Hội Phụ Huynh invites you to join us in celebration of Tết (Lunar New Year) year of the dragon, with fantastic performances from students in the Vietnamese Dual Language Immersion (VDLI) program from Rose City Park Elementary, Roseway Heights Middle School And McDaniel High School.

Hội Phụ Huynh Trại Hè Summer Camp, bắt đầu từ Mùa Hè năm 2022, là duy nhất với loại hình Trại Hè về Ngôn ngữ Song ngữ Việt tại khu vực Portland Metro, nơi đặt trụ sở của chương trình VDLI thứ hai trong cả nước. Là ngôn ngữ xuất hiện thứ hai nhiều nhất tại Portland, Trại Hè đáp ứng một nhu cầu lớn trong cộng đồng mà hiện tại không có các phương tiện khác đáp ứng.

Đối Tượng Phục Vụ

Trại Hè phục vụ sinh viên và gia đình tham gia chương trình Ngôn ngữ Song ngữ Việt tại Trường Công lập Portland. Hiện tại, điều này mở rộng đến sinh viên VDLI ở cả Trường Tiểu học Rose City Park và Trường Trung học Roseway Heights. Tất cả nhân viên và tình nguyện viên của HPH Trại Hè Summer Camp đều đã học tiếng Việt, là người nói song ngữ, bản xứ hoặc có nguồn gốc Việt Nam, đến từ các trường, đại học và cộng đồng địa phương và Việt Nam.

Điều Gì Đợi Chờ

Một tuần điển hình tại trại sẽ bao gồm những trải nghiệm mang tính văn hóa và phong phú như nấu ăn, nghệ thuật, âm nhạc và tiếp xúc với ngôn ngữ Việt Nam suốt mùa hè, điều hiếm thấy trong bất kỳ chương trình hè của PPS nào. Chương trình có tính văn hóa và ngôn ngữ sẽ giúp sinh viên tận hưởng một bản sắc tích cực bằng cách củng cố kiến thức về lịch sử và văn hóa của họ. Nó sẽ giúp họ tự hào về bản thân mình và khuyến khích người khác tự hào về việc biết ai là bạn học của họ trong cộng đồng VDLI.

Hội Phụ Huynh Trại Hè Summer Camp, started in Summer of 2022 is the only Vietnamese Dual Language Immersion Summer Camp of its kind in the Portland Metro region, which is home to the second VDLI program in the country. As the second most spoken emergent language in Portland, Trại Hè provides for an extremely large need in the community that is otherwise currently unmet.

Who We Serve

Trại Hè, serves students and families participating in the Vietnamese Dual Language Immersion program in Portland Public Schools. This currently extends to VDLI students at both Rose City Park Elementary School and Roseway Heights Middle School. All of HPH Trại Hè Summer Camp staff and volunteers have either studied Vietnamese, are bi-lingual, native speakers or are of Vietnamese heritage, and come from local and Vietnamese schools, universities and the community.

What To Expect

A typical week at camp would include culturally relevant and enriching experiences such as cooking, art, music, and Vietnamese language continuity exposure throughout the summer that are rarely found in any of PPS’s summer offerings.  The culturally and linguistically relevant programming will empower students to embrace a positive identity by reinforcing their knowledge of their own backgrounds and culture. It will help them be proud of who they are. And will encourage others to be proud of knowing who their fellow VDLI students are as well.
